The convening of the International Tribunal against Rightlessness of Women Living under Islamic Laws postponed

The International Tribunal against Rightlessness of Women Living under Islamic Laws, due to be held in November 2002, has unfortunately had to be postponed, due to lack of funding.

The idea of a tribunal, where women from different countries would come to expose in a public court, in a symbolic way, the terror and rightlessness faced by millions of women in countries ruled by Islamic laws, and to file grievances against their persecutors, was widely welcomed by progressive and women’s rights groups and individuals from all over the world.

We are making every effort to hold the Tribunal as soon as possible, and by the target date of March 2003. Here, we would like to appeal to everyone to help us in every way they can, in particular financially, to ensure that this important tribunal can be held at the earliest opportunity.

If you can and would like to help, and for further information, please contact: Mina Ahadi: minaahadi@aol.com or Shiva Mahbobi: shiva_mahbobi@yahoo.com
